Abstract

  • Human development in Jawa Timur in 2019 continues to progress. In 2018 the Jawa Timur HDI reached 70.77 and subsequently in 2019 it reached 71.50 or grew 1.03 percent.
  • Surabaya was recorded to have the highest HDI with an HDI score of 82.22, while the lowest HDI in Jawa Timur was recorded in Sampang with an HDI of 61.94.
  • Surabaya City, Malang City, Madiun City and Kab. Sidoarjo was recorded as having a "very high" HDI category, while another 20 regencies / cities were "high", and 14 were "medium".
  • During the period 2018 to 2019, the components forming the HDI also increased. Newborns have the opportunity to live up to 71.18 years, up 0.21 years. Children aged 7 years have the opportunity to attend school for 13.16 years, an increase of 0.06 years. Meanwhile, the population aged 25 years and over has on average been educated for 7.59 years, increasing 0.20 years. Adjusted per capita expenditure (constant 2012 prices) has reached Rp. 11.74 million, an increase of Rp 359 thousand compared to the previous year. The increase in all components led to an increase in HDI in general.
