Abstract

  • Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, five cities experienced inflation and three cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kediri City at 0.20 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Madiun City at 0.03 percent. The highest deflation occurred in Probolinggo City at 0.18 percent and the lowest was in Banyuwangi at 0.15 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to a general increase in prices, as indicated by the increase in most of the index of expenditure groups. Of the eleven expenditure groups, seven groups experienced inflation, two groups experienced deflation and the other two groups experienced no change. The expenditure group experiencing the highest inflation was the household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group at 0.78 percent, followed by the personal care and other services group at 0.56 percent, housing, water, electricity, and household fuel at 0. 34 percent, the food and beverage/restaurant supply group is 0.27 percent, the health group is 0.22 percent, the clothing and footwear group is 0.12 percent and the recreation, sports and culture group is 0.10 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced deflation was the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.57 percent and the transportation group by 0.04 percent. The expenditure groups that did not change were the education group and the information, communication, and financial services group.
  • The inflation rate for the calendar year February 2022 was 0.50 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2022 against February 2021) was recorded at 2.42 percent.
