• In October 2020, East Java experienced deflation of 0.02 percent. Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, four cities experienced deflation and four cities experienced inflation. The highest deflation in Sumenep was 0.07 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation occurred in Probolinggo at 0.15 percent.
• Deflation occurred due to a decrease in prices as indicated by a fall in some of the expenditure group index, namely the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.17 percent, the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.06 percent, the transportation group by 0 , 21 percent, the information, communication and financial services group by 0.02 percent, and the personal care and other services group by 0.18 percent. While the groups experiencing inflation were the clothing and footwear group by 0.10 percent, the health group by 0.50 percent, the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.52 percent, the education group by 0.04 percent, and the food supply group. and beverages / restaurants by 0.45 percent. Meanwhile, the group of equipment, tools and routine household maintenance did not change.
• The inflation rate for the calendar year for October 2020 is 0.72 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2020 against October 2019) is 1.39 percent.
